Afghan Girls Empowerment (AGE)

Afghan girls are currently denied access to education, sports, and opportunities to develop their skills. Our project addresses this urgent need by focusing on four key categories: Fitness & Nutrition, Workshops (Pottery and Sewing), Online English Classes, and Dari Literacy. Through these areas, we aim to build confidence, knowledge, creativity, and entrepreneurial skills for 30 Afghan girls, while also supporting female teachers who have lost their jobs under current restrictions. This program is not just about education it is about empowerment, resilience, and creating pathways to independence.

Background & Need

For decades, Afghan girls have faced systemic barriers to education and personal development. Many are banned from schools, sports, and work, leaving them isolated and vulnerable to depression and hopelessness. Others have never attended school due to war, displacement, or poverty. Families like mine struggled to survive by weaving carpets in refugee camps, with no opportunity for education. Out of nine siblings, only my sister and I were able to attend school, thanks to the help of an American sponsor. That opportunity transformed my life, giving me access to learning, sports, and leadership.

This project seeks to extend similar opportunities to today’s generation of Afghan girls ensuring they are not left behind but instead are given the chance to learn, create, and thrive.
